When To Service your Garage Door

When to Service your Garage Door

Here is a list of things to check and recommendations:

Lubricate Garage Door: This is Really simple and Easy to do. It will help get rid of some noise (if not all) because of dry moving parts. We recommend doing this at least once a year. It will give longevity to all the moving parts. You can buy a Silicone Spray Lubricant at your local Hardware Store (some stores like Home Depot carry a Spray Lube specifically for Garage Doors and Highly Recommend them.) DO NOT USE WD-40 or PB BLASTER they are good for rusty parts but not long lasting lubricant.

Start by Lubricating all the Rollers and Hinges on the Door. Then Lubricate the Torsion Spring (if you have one) it is the one on top of the Garage Door, they tend to dry up and are the ones probably making most of the noise. Also Lubricate your Chain or Screw Drive (the rail) DON NOT LUBRICATE OPENER: IT COULD CAUSE FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK! Also DO NOT Lubricate Belt Drive.

Replace Damaged Rollers: It's important to have all moving parts in good shape and if you have a Broken Wheel on Roller, it means it will drag through the track causing resistence on the opener and making it work more than it needs to and limiting it's longevity. It can also make your door go off track endangering anyone around. If you have the original rollers (plastic on a metal stem) we recommend replacing all the rollers with Nylon Ball Bearing Rollers, they are not expensive and make a BIG difference in noise and longevity. Please Call Us to Replace Rollers the 2 Bottom Ones are Tricky and could Hurt Yourself or the Door.

Replace Bent/Damaged Hinges and Tighten Lose Screws: Check all the Hinges on the Door and make Sure they are Not Damaged or missing a screw. If it is Damaged, they usually have a number stamped (#1,#2,#3,#4,#5) Just replace with the same number with Door Closed. Your Local Hardware Store will probably have them OR you can give us call and we can replace it for you.

Hope this helps!

“Very knowledgeable and professional. They came in because my door would not open. After calling them I received a call from the technician and got here on time. He immediately knew what the problem was and showed me the broken spring. I will use them again.
